Check the condition of each related circuit connector before troubleshooting Electronic Circuit Inspection Procedure.
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT DLC3 TERMINAL VOLTAGE (TC TERMINAL VOLTAGE)
(a) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Voltage:
(c) Turn the engine switch off.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM TO DLC3)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM TO DLC3)
(a) Disconnect the ECM connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:
B -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (TC TERMINAL CIRCUIT)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Check if the CAN communication DTC is output Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result:
C -- REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- REPLACE 4WD CONTROL ECU
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DLC3 CG CIRCUIT)
(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (CG TERMINAL CIRCUIT)
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK WARNING LIGHT (ENGINE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT)
(a) Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
SST : 09843-18040
(b) Check that the engine control light is blinking.
Result:
B -- REPLACE ECM
A -- Continue to next step.
