SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1603/83,B1612/83,B1613/83: Front Satellite Sensor Bus RH Initialization Incomplete
B1603/83 - Front Satellite Sensor Bus RH Initialization Incomplete
B1612/83 - Lost Communication with Front Airbag Sensor RH
B1613/83 - Front Airbag Sensor RH Initialization Incomplete

DESCRIPTION

The front airbag sensor RH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and front airbag sensor RH.

The front airbag sensor RH detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the center airbag sensor to determine if the airbag should be deployed.

DTC B1603/83, B1612/83 or B1613/83 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the front airbag sensor RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
After the power switch is turned OFF, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch OFF, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:

* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS

(a) Turn the power switch OFF.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor and the front airbag sensor RH.

OK:

The connectors are properly connected.

NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK CONNECTORS

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and front airbag sensor RH.

(b) Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor side and front airbag sensor RH side) are not damaged.

OK:

The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

NG -- REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT

(a) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(b) Turn the power switch ON (IG).

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:

(d) Turn the power switch OFF.

(e) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(f) Using a service wire, connect terminals 29 (+SR) and 27 (-SR) of connector B.

NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

(g) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

(h) Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

(i) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE)
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH

(a) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.

(b) Interchange the front airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(d) Turn the power switch ON (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(e) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.

(f) Turn the power switch OFF.

(g) Turn the power switch ON (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(h) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.

A -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Diagnosis System

C -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY Removal

5. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE)

(a) Disconnect the instrument panel wire connector from the engine room main wire.

(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(c) Turn the power switch ON (IG).

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:

(e) Turn the power switch OFF.

(f) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(g) Using a service wire, connect terminal 27 (-SR) and 29 (+SR) of connector B.

NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.

(h) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

(i) Disconnect the service wire from connector B.

(j) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

OK -- REPLACE ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE
