B2799-790 - Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
This DTC is output when one of the following occurs: 1) the hybrid vehicle control ECU detected errors in its own communications with the ID code box; 2) the hybrid vehicle control ECU detects errors in the communication lines; or 3) the ECU communication ID between the ID code box and hybrid vehicle control ECU is different and a hybrid control system start is attempted.
Before troubleshooting for this DTC, make sure no certification ECU DTCs are present. If present, troubleshoot the certification ECU DTCs first.

1. CLEAR DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Engine Immobilizer System.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Check for DTC Engine Immobilizer System.
OK:
DTC B2799-790 is not output.
NG -- REREGISTER ECU CODE
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
3. REREGISTER ECU CODE
(a) Reregister the recognition codes in ECUs Engine Immobilizer System.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
4. CLEAR DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Engine Immobilizer System.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Check for DTC Engine Immobilizer System.
OK:
DTC B2799-790 is not output.
NG -- CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR
OK -- END (RECOGNITION CODE IN ECU IS DEFECTIVE)
6. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR
(a) Turn the power switch OFF.
(b) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the hybrid vehicle control ECU and the ID code box.
OK:
Connectors are properly connected.
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS PROPERLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ID CODE BOX - HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU)
(a) Disconnect the L32 box connector.
(b) Disconnect the A75 ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU
(a) Temporarily replace the hybrid vehicle control ECU with a new one Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
9. REGISTER ECU CODE
(a) Register the recognition codes in ECUs Engine Immobilizer System.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
10. CLEAR DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Engine Immobilizer System.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
11. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Clear the DTC Engine Immobilizer System.
OK:
DTC B2799-790 is not output.
NG -- REPLACE ID CODE BOX Removal
OK -- END (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU IS DEFECTIVE)
