C1528 - Motor Rotation Angle Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The motor rotation angle sensor detects the motor rotation angle and sends this information to the power steering ECU.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK POWER STEERING GROUND WIRE (POWER STEERING GEAR - BODY GROUND)

(a) Check the installation condition of the power steering ground wire connected to the power steering gear.

OK:

The power steering ground wire is securely installed to the power steering gear and body ground.

NG -- REINSTALL POWER STEERING GROUND WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER STEERING ECU - MOTOR ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR)

(a) Disconnect the C2 power steering ECU connector.

(b) Disconnect the C4 motor rotation angle sensor connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (MOTOR ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR)

(a) Disconnect the C4 motor rotation angle sensor connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NOTICE:
If replacing the power steering gear assembly, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Power Steering System.

NG -- REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU

(a) Replace the power steering ECU Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

5. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT

(a) Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Power Steering System.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

6. RECONFIRM DTC

(a) Check for DTCs Power Steering System.
