C164A - EPS Communication Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
The power steering system receives advanced parking guidance system information from the parking assist ECU via CAN communication. This DTC is stored if the parking assist ECU receives abnormal signals from the power steering ECU.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
- When "System initializing" is displayed on the display and navigation module display after the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal, correct the steering angle neutral point Initialization.
- Depending on the parts that are replaced or operations that are performed during vehicle inspection or maintenance, calibration of other systems as well as the advanced parking guidance system may be needed Calibration.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Clear the DTCs Advanced Parking Guidance System.
(b) Check for DTCs Advanced Parking Guidance System.

HINT
- If the DTC is not output again when rechecking for DTCs, it may have been stored due to a temporary communication problem between the parking assist ECU and power steering ECU.
- If DTC C164A is stored frequently, duplicate the problem symptoms and perform the inspection again even if the DTC is not output when rechecking for DTCs How To Proceed With Troubleshooting.

2. REPLACE PARKING ASSIST ECU
(a) Replace the parking assist ECU Removal.
