P062E - Fuel Injector Driver Circuit Performance Bank2
DESCRIPTION
The D-4S (Direct injection 4-stroke gasoline engine Superior) has 2 fuel injection systems. One is the port fuel injection. The other is the direct fuel injection.
In the direct fuel injection system, the injector driver operates the fuel injector for direct injection using DC 50 V. This voltage is built up by the internal DC-DC converter of the injector driver. The engine control module (ECM) controls the injector driver according to the engine conditions.
The two injector drivers are used to control this engine. The injector driver No. 1 operates the direct fuel injectors #1, #4, #6, #7. The injector driver No. 2 operates the direct fuel injectors #2, #3, #5, #8.
INJ1 to INJ4 signal group
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
The injector driver sends the injection confirmation signal (INJ) to the engine control module (ECM). Using this signal, the ECM monitors the direct fuel injector operation. If the ECM receives no INJ signal in 20 consecutive engine rotations, the ECM illuminates the MIL and sets the DTC immediately. Then, the ECM aborts the direct fuel injection of the appropriate cylinder, or turns off the EDU relay to shut the injector driver power source.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
- When viewed from the rear of the engine assembly, Bank 1 is on the left side and Bank 2 is on the right side.
- Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT INJECTOR DRIVER (POWER SOURCE OF ECU)
(a) Disconnect the E16 or E28 injector driver (EDU) connector.
NOTICE:
Do not disconnect the connectors while the engine is running.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
NOTICE:
- If DTC P062D or P062E is detected, the inspection cannot be performed. Therefore, clear the DTCs, and then turn the power switch on (IG).
- Do not turn the power switch on (READY) after clearing the DTCs.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EDU1, 2 FUSE - ECM)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK FOR DTC
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Interchange the No. 1 and No. 2 injector drivers.
NOTICE:
Do not disconnect and reconnect the connectors with the power switch on (IG), as the injector driver (EDU) may be damaged.
(c) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(d) Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream ON.
(e) Clear DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
NOTICE:
Before clearing the DTCs, write them down.
(f) Start the engine.
(g) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
(h) Read DTC.
Result
B -- REPLACE INJECTOR DRIVER Removal
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR FOR DIRECT INJECTION)
(a) Disconnect the H1 or H2 injector driver (No. 1) connector.
(b) Disconnect the H3 or H4 injector driver (No. 2) connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
No. 1
No. 2
NG -- INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR FOR DIRECT INJECTION
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INJECTOR DRIVER - ECM)
(a) Disconnect the E2 and E3 ECM connectors.
(b) Disconnect the E15 or E27 injector driver (EDU) connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):
Standard resistance (Check for short):
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 RELAY BLOCK (EDU1, EDU2 RELAY)
HINT
The EDU1 and EDU2 relays cannot be removed and inspected, as they are part of the engine room No. 2 junction block internal circuit.
(a) Remove the terminal cover.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPLACE ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 RELAY BLOCK
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (EDU1, 2 FUSE - ECM)
(a) Remove the EDU1 and EDU2 fuses from the engine room No. 2 junction block.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(c) Disconnect the E16 or E28 injector driver (EDU) connector.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):
Standard resistance (Check for short):
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 JUNCTION BLOCK
7. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR FOR DIRECT INJECTION
(a) Check the resistance of the fuel injector for direct injection Fuel Injector (for Direct Injection).
NG -- REPLACE FUEL INJECTOR FOR DIRECT INJECTION Removal
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
