P0711
L110F HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0711-883: Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Range / Performance
P0711-883 - Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Range / Performance
DESCRIPTION
For a description of the transmission fluid temperature sensor, P0710.
HINT
DTC P0711-833 can be set if the engine coolant temperature changes from 95°F (35°C) or less to 140°F (60 °C) after the power switch is turned on (READY).
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
As a result of comparing the fluid temperature and coolant temperature with the power switch on (READY), the fluid temperature exceeds a specified level while the coolant temperature is less than the specified level.
HINT
DTC P0711-833 can be set if the engine coolant temperature changes from 95°F (35°C) or less to 140°F (60 °C) after the power switch is turned on (READY).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HV)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(d) Check if DTCs are output.
Result:
B -- GO TO DTC CHART Hybrid Control System
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR)
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Check the connections of the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors.
OK:
The connectors are connected securely and there are no contact problems.
NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK TRANSMISSION WIRE (TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR)
(a) Turn the power switch off.
(b) Disconnect connectors E55 and A74 from the hybrid vehicle control ECU.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (TRANSMISSION WIRE CONNECTOR)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CLEAR DTC
(a) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(b) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(c) Read and record the DTCs and freeze frame data.
(d) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.
(e) Clear DTCs and freeze frame data.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (T/M OIL TEMPERATURE)
(a) Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / T/M Oil Temperature.
(b) Read the data list.
OK:
The T/M Oil Temperature value is within the normal range and does not fluctuate.
NG -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE Components
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
(a) Check for intermittent problems Check For Intermittent Problems.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE MALFUNCTIONING PARTS, COMPONENT AND AREA
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK FLUID LEAKS
(a) Check for fluid leaks from the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly Procedures.
OK:
There are no fluid leaks.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY Components
OK -- REPLACE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU Components
8. CHECK CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION (TRANSMISSION WIRE CONNECTOR)
(a) Check the connection of the transmission wire connector.
OK:
The connector is connected securely and there are no contact problems.
NG -- CONNECT SECURELY
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU - TRANSMISSION WIRE)
(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NOTICE:
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the hybrid vehicle control ECU connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(d) Turn the power switch off.
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):
Standard resistance (Check for short):
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE Components
