Auxiliary Heater Element Relay: Testing and Inspection
AIR CONDITIONING: PTC HEATER RELAY: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System (for HDD):
* After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
Waiting Time before Disconnecting Cable from Negative (-) Battery Terminal:
* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
2. REMOVE PTC HEATER RELAY (PTC HTR 1, PTC HTR 3)
(a) Remove the 3 PTC heater relays from the No. 5 relay box.
3. INSPECT PTC HEATER RELAY (PTC HTR 1, PTC HTR 3)
(a) Measure the resistance of the magnet clutch relay.
Standard resistance:
* If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
4. INSTALL PTC HEATER RELAY
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
