SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (for Front Side): REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Service Precautions.

2. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD Removal

3. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX Removal

4. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 FLOOR BOARD Removal

5. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX RH Removal

6. REMOVE REAR FLOOR BOARD UPPER NO. 3 PLATE Removal

7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL PLUG Disassembly

9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR LOWER FRAME BRACKET GARNISH Disassembly

10. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MASTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL (for Driver Side) Disassembly

11. REMOVE DOOR ARMREST COVER (for Driver Side) Disassembly

12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for Driver Side) Disassembly

13. REMOVE DOOR ASSIST GRIP COVER (for Front Passenger Side) Disassembly

14. REMOVE DOOR ASSIST GRIP ASSEMBLY (for Front Passenger Side) Disassembly

15. REMOVE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT DOOR ARMREST BASE PANEL (for Front Passenger Side) Disassembly

16. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for Front Passenger Side) Disassembly

17. REMOVE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Check that the power switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connector.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(1) While holding the sides of the outer connector locking sleeve, slide the sleeve in the direction indicated by the arrow shown in the illustration.

(2) When the connector lock is released, the connector can be disconnected.

HINT
Be sure to hold both outer flank sides. Holding the top and bottom will make disconnection difficult.

(d) Remove the bolt and door side airbag sensor.

NOTICE:
Loosen the bolt while holding the door side airbag sensor because the door side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
