Removal





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR AIRBAG SENSOR: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Service Precautions.

2. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD Removal

3. REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX Removal

4. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 FLOOR BOARD Removal

5. REMOVE DECK FLOOR BOX RH Removal

6. REMOVE REAR FLOOR BOARD UPPER NO. 3 PLATE Removal

7. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

8. REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY

9. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal

10. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE COVER RH (for RH Side) Removal

11. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH Removal

12. REMOVE SIDE NO. 2 AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the power switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Disconnect the connector.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(1) Push and hold the white housing lock, and slide the outer connector locking sleeve.

(2) Push and hold the white housing lock again, and slide the outer connector locking sleeve to disconnect the connector.

(d) Remove the nut and side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly.

NOTICE:
Loosen the nut while holding the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly because the side No. 2 airbag sensor assembly pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
