Rear Axle Hub





AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE HUB: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

NOTICE:
When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work. Service Precautions

2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL Removal

3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

4. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

5. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH Removal

6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH Removal

7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

8. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE Removal

9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR Removal

10. DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY Removal

11. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Replacement

12. REMOVE REAR DISC Removal

13. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS





(a) Using a dial indicator, check for looseness near the center of the rear axle hub.

Maximum:

0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

NOTICE:
* Ensure that the dial indicator is set perpendicular to the measurement surface.
* Keep the magnet of the dial indicator away from the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

HINT
If the looseness exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

14. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT

(a) Using a dial indicator, check for runout on the surface of the rear axle hub outside the rear axle hub bolt.





Maximum:

0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

NOTICE:
* Ensure that the dial indicator is set perpendicular to the measurement surface.
* Make sure to install the tip of the dial indicator towards the outside of the rear axle hub bolt.
* Keep the magnet of the dial indicator away from the rear axle hub and bearing.

HINT
If the runout exceeds the maximum, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

17. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY Installation

18. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR Installation

19. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE

Adjustments

20. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

21. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH Installation

22. CONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH Installation

23. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

24. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)

25. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal Battery: Installation.

(b) Connect the reservoir level switch connector.

(c) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
