B1855
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1855/63-B1858/63: Short in Rear Side Squib LH Circuit
B1858/63 - Short to B+ in Rear Side Squib LH Circuit
DESCRIPTION
The rear side squib LH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the rear seat airbag assembly LH.
The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.
These DTCs are recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear side squib LH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
* Perform the simulation method by selecting the "check mode" (signal check) with the Techstream Check Mode Procedure.
* After selecting the "check mode" (signal check), perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the airbag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road Check Mode Procedure.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK REAR SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH (REAR SIDE SQUIB LH)
(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the connector from the rear seat airbag assembly LH.
(d) Connect SST (resistance 2.1 Ohms) to connector "C".
CAUTION:
Never connect a tester to the rear seat airbag assembly LH (Rear side squib LH) for measurement, as the may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.
NOTICE:
* Do not forcibly insert the SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
* Insert straight the SST into the terminals of the connector.
SST : 09843-18061
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(f) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(h) Turn the engine switch off.
(i) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(j) Check the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTC B1855, B1856, B1857, B1858 or 63 is not output.
HINT
Codes other than DTC B1855, B1856, B1857, B1858 and 63 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
OK -- REPLACE REAR SEAT AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO.2 (REAR SIDE SQUIB LH CIRCUIT)
(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Disconnect the SST (resistance 2.1 Ohms) from the floor wire No.2.
(d) Disconnect the connectors from the airbag sensor assembly center.
(e) Check the short to B+ in the circuit.
(1) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(2) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(3) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Voltage:
(f) Check the open in the circuit.
(1) Turn the engine switch off.
(2) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(3) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:
(g) Check the short to ground in the circuit.
(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:
(h) Check the short in the circuit.
(1) Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector "B" Diagnosis System.
(2) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO.2
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Connect the connectors to the rear seat airbag assembly LH and the center airbag sensor assembly.
(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(d) Clear the DTCs stored in memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(e) Turn the engine switch off.
