Fuel Lid Opener does not Operate
ENGINE HOOD / DOOR: FUEL LID OPENER SYSTEM: Fuel Lid Opener does not Operate
- Fuel Lid Opener does not Operate
DESCRIPTION
* Body ECU (cowl side junction block LH) receives the signal from integration control and panel assembly that input the open signal from the luggage door opening switch assembly (fuel lid opener switch) according to the BEAN communication line. A fuel lid open request signal is sent to the body ECU (cowl side junction block LH) via the BEAN communication line. Upon receiving the signal, the ECU actuates the FUEL OPEN relay, which causes the fuel lid opener motor assembly to open the fuel lid.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT FUSE (FUEL OPEN)
(a) Remove the FUEL OPEN fuse from the cowl side junction block LH.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE FUSE (FUEL OPEN)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.
Cowl Side Junction Block LH
OK:
Fuel lid is opened.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR - BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
Instrument Control and Panel Assembly
OK:
When the switch is operating, the Techstream should display as shown in the chart.
NG -- INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL - BODY ECU (COWL SIDE J/B LH))
(a) Disconnect the K12 control and panel connector.
(b) Disconnect the PA junction block connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE BODY ECU (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH)
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR - BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the V29 motor connector.
(b) Disconnect the PJ junction block connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the fuel lid opener motor assembly Removal.
(b) Apply battery voltage to the lock control and check the motor operates in the open direction.
Standard:
(c) Check the shaft strokes.
Standard:
10.3 mm (0.406 in.) or more.
NG -- REPLACE FUEL LID OPENER MOTOR ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- REPLACE BODY ECU (COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH)
7. INSPECT LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH)
(a) Remove the luggage door opening switch assembly (fuel lid opener switch) Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH ASSEMBLY (FUEL LID OPENER SWITCH) Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE DOOR OPENING SWITCH - INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL)
(a) Disconnect the K12 control and panel connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE INTEGRATION CONTROL AND PANEL ASSEMBLY
