P0A1F-157 - Battery Energy Control Module

L110 HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0A1F-150, P0A1F-157: Battery Energy Control Module
P0A1F-157 - Battery Energy Control Module

DESCRIPTION

The hybrid vehicle control ECU alerts the driver and performs fail sage control based on error signals sent from the battery smart unit.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The hybrid vehicle control ECU calculates the differences among the received HV battery voltage, boost converter voltage, and inverter voltage. If any of the differences exceed prescribed values, the hybrid vehicle control ECU determines that there is a malfunction in a battery smart unit circuit. When the hybrid vehicle control ECU detects a malfunction, it will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
- Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.
- After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals. After waiting, check the voltage at the inspection point in the inverter with converter assembly. The voltage should be 0 V before beginning work.
HINT
- Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.
- After completing repairs, restart the system (turn the power switch on (READY)) and recheck for DTCs L110 Hybrid Vehicle Control System.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK AUXILIARY BATTERY

(a) Turn the power switch off.

(b) Measure the voltage between the terminals of the auxiliary battery.

Standard voltage:

12.0 to 12.8 V or more (Battery electrolyte temperature: 20°C (68°F))

NG -- CHARGE OR REPLACE AUXILIARY BATTERY
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (IGCT VOLTAGE)

CAUTION:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

(a) Turn the power switch off and remove the service plug grip L110 Hybrid Vehicle Control System.

(b) Remove the luggage compartment trim cover front Components.

(c) Disconnect the frame wire Components.

(d) Remove the battery bracket sub-assembly Components.

(e) Connect the auxiliary battery positive terminal cable of the frame wire Components.

(f) Disconnect connector N2 from the battery smart unit.

(g) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(h) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:

NOTICE:
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the battery smart unit connectors disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.

OK -- REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT Components
NG -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK FUSE (IGCT NO. 3)

(a) Remove the IGCT NO. 3 fuse from the engine room R/B No. 1.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

Below 1 Ohms

NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY SMART UNIT - ENGINE ROOM R/B NO. 1)

CAUTION:
Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

(a) Install the IGCT NO. 3 fuse to the engine room R/B No. 1.

(b) Remove the integration relay from the engine room R/B No. 1.

(c) Disconnect connector N2 from the battery smart unit.

(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- CHECK AND REPAIR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
