Removal





BRAKE: REAR BRAKE: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
* The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

CAUTION:
When the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc, do not start the hybrid system. If the hybrid system is started, the brake fluid pressure may increase.

1. REMOVE ABS MOTOR RELAY

(a) Remove the 2 ABS motor relays with the power switch OFF from the engine room No. 3 relay block.





2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

3. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE:
Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surface.

4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD KIT

(a) Disengage the both ends of the anti-squeal spring from the 2 brake pad holes, and turn the anti-squeal spring as shown in the illustration.





(b) Push the pin hold clip toward the brake rotor to disengage it from the brake pad, and then remove it from the 2 pad guide pins.





NOTICE:
Be sure to remove the pin hold clip as specified above.

(c) Holding the anti-squeal spring, remove the 2 pad guide pins from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.





(d) Remove the anti-squeal spring from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

(e) Remove the 2 brake pads with the anti-squeal shims.

5. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT

(a) Remove the 2 anti-squeal shims from each pad.

6. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE

(a) Remove the union bolt and gasket from the disc brake caliper, and then disconnect the flexible hose.





7. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN

(a) Remove the cylinder slide pin, and then tilt the disc brake caliper toward the rear of the vehicle.





8. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake caliper together with the caliper support bracket.





(b) Remove the 2 No. 1 caliper plates from the caliper support bracket.
