1UR-FSE ENGINE MECHANICAL: ENGINE UNIT: REMOVAL

1. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND

(a) Install the engine onto an engine stand with the bolts.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 engine hangers.

2. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING DAMPER

(a) Remove the 2 nuts and 2 mounting dampers.





3. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and mounting bracket.





4. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET LH

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and mounting bracket.





5. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wire harness clamp brackets.





6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY Removal

7. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER Removal

8. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER

9. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY Removal

11. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD Removal

12. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

13. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

14. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

15. REMOVE NO. 3 COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

16. REMOVE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE (for Port Injection) Removal

18. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY (for Port Injection) Removal

19. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) Removal

20. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2) Removal

21. REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION DAMPER ASSEMBLY Removal

22. REMOVE NO. 3 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

23. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

24. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1) Removal

25. REMOVE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 2) Removal

26. REMOVE NO. 4 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

27. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE (for Direct Injection) Removal

28. REMOVE NO. 2 FUEL DELIVERY PIPE (for Direct Injection) Removal

29. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY (for Direct Injection) Removal

30. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR SEAL (for Direct Injection) Removal

31. REMOVE SEPARATOR CASE Removal

32. REMOVE ENGINE WIRE

(a) Disconnect the 4 knock sensor connectors.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and engine wire.

33. REMOVE NO. 4 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the engine cover.





34. REMOVE NO. 2 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and idler pulley.





35. REMOVE NO. 1 IDLER PULLEY SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and idler pulley.





36. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY Removal

37. REMOVE INLET WATER HOUSING

(a) Using needle-nose pliers, grip the claws of the clips and slide the clips to disconnect the water by-pass hoses and inlet water hose.





(b) Remove the 3 bolts, inlet water housing and gasket.





38. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a 24 mm (0.94 in.) deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch.





39. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL SENSOR

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and oil level sensor.





40. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR Removal

41. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR Removal

42. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY Removal

43. REMOVE NO. 4 V-BANK COVER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the wire harness clamp.





(b) Remove the bolt and No. 4 V-bank cover bracket.

44. REMOVE NO. 6 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the nut and V-bank cover bracket sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the 2 nuts and No. 6 engine cover sub-assembly with head cover stay.





45. REMOVE NO. 3 V-BANK COVER BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps.





(b) Remove the bolt and No. 3 V-bank cover bracket.

46. REMOVE NO. 5 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the nut and V-bank cover bracket sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the 2 nuts and No. 5 engine cover sub-assembly with head cover stay.
