Installation

POWER STEERING: STEERING GEAR (for 2WD): INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the power steering link assembly with the 2 bolts, 2 washers and 2 nuts.





Torque : 118 Nm (1,200 kgf-cm, 87 ft-lbf)

(b) Connect wire harness connector (C) to the power steering link assembly and securely lock the connector.





(c) Connect 2 wire harness connectors (A) and (B) to the power steering link assembly.

(d) Install the 2 wire harness clamps to the power steering link assembly.

2. CONNECT TIE ROD END LH

(a) Connect the tie rod end LH to the steering knuckle with the nut.

Torque : 65 Nm (663 kgf-cm, 50 ft-lbf)

(b) Install a new clip.

NOTICE:
If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut up to 60° further.

3. CONNECT TIE ROD END RH

HINT
Perform the same procedure as for the LH side.

4. CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY NO. 2

(a) Align the matchmarks on the intermediate shaft assembly No. 2 and the power steering link assembly.





(b) Install bolt (A) and tighten the 2 bolts.





Torque : 35 Nm (360 kgf-cm, 26 ft-lbf)

5. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER PROTECTOR LOWER

(a) Install the front suspension member protector lower to the front suspension cross member with the 4 bolts.





Torque : 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in-lbf)

6. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER NO. 2

7. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER

8. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS

Torque : 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)

9. CONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

10. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

11. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT

12. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT

Power Steering System

13. PERFORM VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM CALIBRATION (for 1UR-FSE)
