DESCRIPTION

The front light ECU receives washer switch information from the front wiper switch, and operates the wash relay.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

(c) Select the item below in the Active Test and then check that the washer motor operates.

Body No. 5 (Front Controller):





OK:

Washer motor operates.

NG -- CHECK ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 JUNCTION BLOCK

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE

2. CHECK ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 JUNCTION BLOCK

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard voltage:





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- CHECK ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 JUNCTION BLOCK
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the washer motor connector.





(b) Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 of the washer motor, and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 2.

OK:

Washer motor operates.

NG -- REPLACE WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY

OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WASHER MOTOR CIRCUIT)

4. CHECK ENGINE ROOM NO. 2 JUNCTION BLOCK

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
