Electronic Shift Lever System
P311 HYBRID TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: ELECTRONIC SHIFT LEVER SYSTEM: "P" Position Switch Indicator Light Circuit
- "P" Position Switch Indicator Light Circuit
DESCRIPTION
The indicator light comes on when the P position switch (transmission shift main switch) is pressed (the P position is engaged), goes off when the switch is released (the P position is disengaged) and blinks when a system malfunction occurs.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK P POSITION SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT MAIN SWITCH (INDICATOR LIGHT))
(a) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(b) Depress the brake pedal and move the shift lever to N.
(c) Inspect the indicator light condition by operating the P position switch (transmission shift main switch).
Result
(d) Turn the power switch off.
B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (P POSITION SWITCH POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK P POSITION SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT MAIN SWITCH (INDICATOR LIGHT))
(a) Disconnect connector A35 from the transmission control ECU assembly.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Inspect the indicator light condition by operating the P position switch (transmission shift main switch).
Result
NOTICE:
Turning the power switch on (IG) with the transmission control ECU assembly connector disconnected causes other DTCs to be stored. Clear the DTCs after performing this inspection.
(d) Turn the power switch off.
(e) Connect the transmission control ECU assembly connector.
B -- REPLACE TRANSMISSION CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY Components
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL ECU - P POSITION SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect connector A35 from the transmission control ECU assembly.
(b) Disconnect connector F1 from the P position switch (transmission shift main switch).
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Short):
Text in Illustration
(d) Connect the P position switch (transmission shift main switch) connector.
(e) Connect the transmission control ECU assembly connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE P POSITION SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT MAIN SWITCH)
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (P POSITION SWITCH POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
(a) Disconnect connector from the P position switch (transmission shift main switch).
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
Text in Illustration
(c) Connect the P position switch (transmission shift main switch) connector.
NG -- CHECK AND REPAIR POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT P POSITION SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT MAIN SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect connector from the P position switch (transmission shift main switch).
(b) Apply auxiliary battery voltage between terminals F1-6 (IND+) and F1-7 (IND-) and check the indicator light.
Result:

HINT
Terminals No. 1 and No. 8 on the component side connector are empty.
(c) Connect the P position switch (transmission shift main switch) connector.
NG -- REPLACE P POSITION SWITCH (TRANSMISSION SHIFT MAIN SWITCH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION CONTROL ECU - P POSITION SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect connector A35 from the transmission control ECU assembly.
(b) Disconnect connector from the P position switch (transmission shift main switch).
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance (Check for Open):
