Installation





BRAKE (REAR): REAR BRAKE: INSTALLATION

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
* The following procedure is for the LH side.

1. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG

2. INSTALL REAR DISC

(a) Align the matchmarks and install the rear disc.

NOTICE:
When replacing the rear disc with a new one, select the installation position where the rear disc has minimal runout.

3. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 DISC BRAKE CALIPER PLATE

(a) Install 2 new rear No. 1 disc brake caliper plates to the caliper support bracket.

4. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

(a) Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the caliper support pin of the caliper support bracket as shown in the illustration.

(b) Install the rear disc brake cylinder assembly to the caliper support bracket, and engage the rear disc brake bushing dust boot to the groove of the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

NOTICE:
Securely install the rear disc brake bushing dust boot to the groove of the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

5. INSTALL CALIPER SUPPORT BRACKET

(a) Install the caliper support bracket together with the rear disc brake cylinder assembly to the rear axle carrier with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 65 Nm (663 kgf-cm, 48 ft-lbf)

(b) Put on the rear disc brake cylinder assembly to the caliper support bracket.

6. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN

(a) Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin.





(b) Install the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin to secure the rear disc brake cylinder assembly to the caliper support bracket.





Torque : 25 Nm (250 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)

7. CONNECT REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE

(a) Connect the rear flexible hose to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly with the union bolt and a new gasket.





Torque : 30 Nm (310 kgf-cm, 22 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Install the flexible hose lock securely in the lock hole in the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

8. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM

(a) Apply disc brake grease to both sides of the rear No. 1 disc brake anti-squeal shim.

NOTICE:
* When replacing worn pads, the rear disc brake anti-squeal shims must be replaced together with the pads.
* Apply disc brake grease to the area that contacts the rear disc brake anti-squeal shims.
* Make sure that disc brake grease is not applied onto the lining surface.

(b) Install the rear No. 1 disc brake anti-squeal shim and rear No. 2 disc brake anti-squeal shim to each rear disc brake pad.

NOTICE:
* Disc brake grease can come out slightly from the area where the rear disc brake anti-squeal shims are installed.
* Install the rear disc brake anti-squeal shims in the correct positions and directions.
* There should be no oil or grease on the friction surfaces of the pads and disc.

9. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD

(a) Insert the 2 rear disc brake pads to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

(b) Install the pad guide pin (upper) to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.





(c) Insert the end of the anti-squeal spring to the inner rear disc brake pad.





(d) Holding the anti-squeal spring, install the pad guide pin (lower) to the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

(e) Engage the pin hold clip to the holes of both pad guide pins, and insert the pin hold clip to the rear disc brake pad as shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
Make sure that the claw of the pin hold clip is engaged to the rear disc brake pad hole.

(f) Insert the end of the anti-squeal spring to the outer rear disc brake pad hole.

NOTICE:
* Make sure that the anti-squeal spring and pin hold clip are placed as shown in the illustration.
* Make sure that the pin hold clip cannot be removed easily from the pad guide pins.

12. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE AND PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL (for Automatic Transmission) Adjustments

13. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)
