Removal





A760E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System for HDD)

NOTICE:
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

3. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY

4. REMOVE NO. 1 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

5. REMOVE NO. 1 BODY MOUNTING BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal

6. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

7. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL Removal

8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Removal

9. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER

11. REMOVE INLET NO. 1 AIR CLEANER Removal

12. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair

13. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

(a) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.

(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

Torque : 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

14. SEPARATE NO. 3 ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK Removal

15. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

16. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal

17. REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER

(a) Remove the flywheel housing side cover from the engine assembly.





18. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT

(a) Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt and remove the 6 bolts while holding the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench.

19. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Move the shift lever to N.

(b) Remove the nut, and separate the floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly.





20. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the automatic transmission assembly with a transmission jack.





21. REMOVE REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and separate the rear engine mounting member from the body.





(b) Remove the 4 nuts and rear engine mounting member from the automatic transmission assembly.





22. SEPARATE WIRE HARNESS

(a) Remove the bolt and ground cable.





(b) Tilt down the automatic transmission assembly.





(c) Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector, transmission wire connector, and 2 transmission revolution sensor connectors.

Disengage the claw, press down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.

(d) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the wire harness clamp from the automatic transmission assembly.

23. SEPARATE WATER BY-PASS HOSE

(a) Remove the bolt and water hose clamp.

(b) Separate the 2 water by-pass hoses from the transmission oil cooler.

NOTICE:
Use a container to catch any coolant which flows out of the water by-pass hoses.

24. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transmission assembly.

NOTICE:
Do not use excess force to pry on the transmission assembly.





25. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and rear No. 1 engine mounting insulator from the automatic transmission assembly.





26. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH

(a) Remove the nut, spring washer and transmission control shaft lever RH from the park/neutral position switch assembly.

27. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Put matchmarks on the torque converter and transmission case.
