SLIDING ROOF / CONVERTIBLE: BACK WINDOW DRIVE MOTOR: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

Service Precautions

NOTICE:
w/ Navigation System for HDD:

After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. SET LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR Removal

4. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM GARNISH LH Removal

5. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM GARNISH RH Removal

6. REMOVE UNDER PACKAGE TRAY TRIM COVER Removal

7. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM COVER Removal

8. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY PANEL (for Front Side) Removal

9. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY PANEL (for Rear Side) Removal

10. SET PACKAGE TRAY TRIM BRACKET Removal

11. CLOSE ROOF

(a) Manually move the roof to the position shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
* Perform this operation using 2 persons.
* Synchronize the movement of the left and right sides of the roof when moving it.

(b) Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the lock cover (for front side).





(c) Insert a 5 mm hexagon wrench into the sliding roof drive gear shaft (lock motor shaft) through the hole in the roof headlining.

(d) Looking from below, turn the wrench counterclockwise to release the locks.

NOTICE:
* Insert the hexagon wrench all the way in and turn it with both hands.
* Do not apply excessive force after the drive gear stops turning.

HINT
The locks will release when the wrench is turned approximately 360 degrees.

(e) Move the roof panel to the position shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
* Perform this operation using 2 persons.
* Synchronize the movement of the left and right sides of the roof panels when moving them.

HINT
Slowly close the roof panels while checking that the guide pins on the roof panel and the sockets on the pillars are aligned.

(f) Insert a 5 mm hexagon wrench into the sliding roof drive gear shaft (lock motor shaft) through the hole in the roof headlining.

(g) Looking from below, turn the wrench clockwise to engage the locks.





NOTICE:
* Insert the hexagon wrench all the way in and turn it with both hands.
* Do not apply excessive force after the drive gear stops turning.

HINT
The locks will engage when the wrench is turned approximately 360 degrees.

12. SET UPPER BACK WINDOW FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Manually move the upper back window frame sub-assembly to the position shown in the illustration.





NOTICE:
* Perform this operation using 2 persons.
* Synchronize the movement of the left and right sides of the upper back window frame sub-assembly when moving it.

13. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH LH Removal

16. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT (w/ Spare Tire) Removal

17. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT (w/o Spare Tire) Removal

18. REMOVE SPARE WHEEL CUSHION (w/ Spare Tire) Removal

19. REMOVE SPARE TIRE (w/ Spare Tire)

20. REMOVE SPARE WHEEL COVER TRAY ASSEMBLY (w/o Spare Tire) Removal

21. REMOVE DECK SIDE TRIM BOX LH Removal

22. REMOVE DECK SIDE TRIM BOX RH Removal

23. REMOVE LUGGAGE DOOR LOCK PROTECTOR Removal

24. REMOVE ROPE HOOK ASSEMBLY (for Rear Side) Removal

25. REMOVE REAR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER Removal

26. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER ASSEMBLY Removal

27. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER HOOK HOLDER Removal

28. REMOVE SLIDING ROOF GUIDE RAIL STOPPER Removal

29. REMOVE FRONT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER Removal

30. REMOVE LOWER INNER LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER Removal

31. REMOVE NO. 2 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CUSHION (for LH Side) Removal

32. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

33. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM SIDE COVER LH Removal

34. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR SIDE CUSHION RH (for LH Side) Removal

35. REMOVE ROPE HOOK (for LH Side) Removal

36. REMOVE ROPE HOOK ASSEMBLY (for Front LH) Removal

37. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH Removal

38. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM SIDE COVER RH Removal

39. REMOVE TONNEAU COVER STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal

40. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH SIDE PLATE LH Removal

41. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER LH Removal

42. REMOVE SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)

(a) Disconnect the 2 connectors.





(b) Using a clip remover, disengage the clamp.

(c) Using a T40 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 bolts.





(d) Remove the 3 bolts and slide roof motor assembly.

HINT
Keep the shims for the slide roof motor assembly.





43. REMOVE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and bracket.





(b) Using 4 mm hexagon wrench, remove the 3 bolts and sliding roof drive gear assembly.
