WIPER AND WASHER: WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM: FAIL-SAFE CHART
1. FRONT WIPER SYSTEM
(a) When the wiper switch is in any position other than "OFF" and the blades are frozen or a wiper pivot is seized, a malfunction is detected by the main body ECU LH (cowl side J/B LH) and the wiper operation is stopped.
HINT
Recovery condition: Engine switch off or windshield wiper switch assembly off.
(b) When the rain sensor is malfunctioning and the windshield wiper switch is in the AUTO position, the front wiper system will use the mode that the rain sensor determined to be appropriate before the rain sensor malfunctioned.
HINT
Recovery condition: Signal level error cancellation from rain sensor.
(c) When the rain sensor overheats and the front wiper is in the HI operation mode, the front wiper system is changed to the LO operation mode.
HINT
Recovery condition: Engine switch off or wiper operation signal is not AUTO or LO.
(d) If the main body ECU LH (cowl side J/B LH) malfunctions, or BEAN communication is not possible, only the HI operation mode can be selected using the windshield wiper switch assembly.
HINT
Recovery condition: Main body ECU LH (cowl side J/B LH) returns to normal.
