Lighting and Horns: Service Precautions

LIGHTING (EXT): LIGHTING SYSTEM: PRECAUTION

1. PRECAUTION FOR HEADLIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT

If any defect such as deformation, cracks, dents, chipping, etc. is identified on a discharge headlight component (especially the light control ECU), replace it with a new one.

Even if operation seems to be normal, the fail-safe function may be defective.

Since discharge headlight and halogen bulbs (for headlights and fog lights) have pressurized gas inside and can easily be broken if scratched or dropped, special care should be taken. When handling the bulb, hold only the plastic or metal parts and do not touch the glass part with your bare hands.

Never touch the high voltage socket of the discharge headlight with the headlight dimmer switch on, as this could generate 20000 V and lead to a serious accident.

Never connect a tester to the high voltage socket of the discharge headlight for measurement, as this may lead to a serious accident because of high voltage.

When performing operations related to the discharge headlights, keep components away from water, turn off the light control switch, and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal and the connector of the light control ECU in advance to avoid an electric shock.

When performing operations related to the discharge headlights, operate them after assembling all parts and never operate them without the bulbs installed.

Only illuminate the discharge headlights using the vehicle's power source.
