Installation





SLIDING ROOF / CONVERTIBLE: BACK WINDOW DRIVE MOTOR: INSTALLATION

1. APPLY NON-SILICONE GREASE

(a) Apply non-silicone grease to the moving parts of the sliding roof drive gear assembly.





2. INSTALL SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the sliding roof drive gear assembly.

(1) Remove the bolts and clean the bolt holes with non-residue solvent.

(2) Apply Toyota genuine adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324, or equivalent to the threads of the bolts.

(3) Using 4 mm hexagon wrench, install the 3 bolts.

Torque : 5.3 Nm (54 kgf-cm, 47 in-lbf)





(b) Install the bracket with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf)

3. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)

(a) Temporarily install the slide roof motor assembly with the 3 bolts.





HINT
* Reinstall the original shims in this step.
* Install the slide roof motor assembly so that it can be moved forward/rearward and left/right.

(b) Using a T40 "TORX" socket wrench, temporarily install the 2 bolts.





4. SET SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Manually move the slide roof motor assembly to the position shown in the illustration.





5. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN UPPER BACK WINDOW FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

6. SET UPPER BACK WINDOW FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Manually close the upper back window frame sub-assembly.





NOTICE:
* Perform this operation using 2 persons.
* Synchronize the movement of the left and right sides of the upper back window frame sub-assembly when moving it.

(b) Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the lock cover (for rear side).





(c) Insert a 5 mm hexagon wrench into the sliding roof drive gear shaft (lock motor shaft) through the hole in the roof headlining.

(d) Using a 5 mm hexagon wrench, turn the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly clockwise to engage the lock of the rear slide roof panel sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
* Insert the hexagon wrench all the way in and turn it with both hands.
* Do not apply excessive force after the drive gear stops turning.

HINT
The locks will engage when the wrench is turned approximately 360 degrees.

7. INSPECT FITTING OF UPPER BACK WINDOW FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Measure the clearance between the rear slide roof panel sub-assembly and the upper back window frame sub-assembly at points A, B and C and adjust it to the standard.

HINT
Loosen the bolts for the back window frame sub-assembly upper or move the slide roof motor assembly when making adjustments.

8. FULLY TIGHTEN UPPER BACK WINDOW FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

9. FULLY TIGHTEN SLIDE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) Installation

10. SET UPPER BACK WINDOW FRAME SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a 5 mm hexagon wrench, turn the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly counterclockwise to release the lock of the rear slide roof panel sub-assembly.





NOTICE:
* Insert the hexagon wrench all the way in and turn it with both hands.
* Do not apply excessive force after the drive gear stops turning.

HINT
The locks will release when the wrench is turned approximately 360 degrees.

(b) Install the lock cover (for rear side).

(c) Manually move the upper back window frame sub-assembly to the position shown in the illustration.

45. SET TONNEAU COVER

(a) Move the tonneau cover to the position shown in the illustration.





46. SET METAL TOP ROOF

(a) Stow the upper back window frame sub-assembly in the luggage compartment.





NOTICE:
* Perform this operation using 2 persons.
* Synchronize the movement of the left and right sides of the upper back window frame sub-assembly when moving it.

(b) Using a 5 mm hexagon wrench, turn the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly counterclockwise to release the lock of the front slide roof panel sub-assembly.





NOTICE:
* Insert the hexagon wrench all the way in and turn it with both hands.
* Do not apply excessive force after the drive gear stops turning.

HINT
The locks will release when the wrench is turned approximately 360 degrees.

(c) Install the lock cover (for front side).

(d) Stow the roof in the luggage compartment.
