WIPER / WASHER: WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM: FAIL-SAFE CHART
1. FRONT WIPER SYSTEM
(a) When the wiper switch is in any position other than "OFF" and the blades are frozen or a wiper pivot is seized, a malfunction is detected by the main body ECU LH (cowl side junction block LH) and the wiper operation is stopped.
HINT
Recovery condition: The engine switch is off or the windshield wiper switch assembly is off.
(b) When a malfunction occurs in the rain sensor with the windshield wiper switch in the AUTO position, the front wiper system will switch to an appropriate mode before the rain sensor operation fails.
HINT
Recovery condition: Signal level error cancellation from the rain sensor.
(c) When the rain sensor overheats and the front wiper is in the HI operation mode, the front wiper system is changed to the LO operation mode.
HINT
Recovery condition: The engine switch is off or the wiper operation signal is not AUTO or LO.
(d) If the main body ECU LH (cowl side junction block LH) malfunctions, or BEAN communication is not possible, only the HI operation mode can be selected using the windshield wiper switch assembly.
HINT
Recovery condition: The main body ECU LH (cowl side junction block LH) returns to normal.
