January 31, 2012 Rev1:
- Applicability has been updated to include 2011 model year IS-F vehicles.

Any previous printed versions of this service bulletin should be discarded.

INTRODUCTION:

Some 2008 - 2011 model year IS-F vehicles may exhibit a squeal or squeak noise from the rear of the vehicle when lightly applying the brakes. Two new brake pad kits have been made available to address this condition; one for an intermittent slight noise and another for a more persistent noise compliant.

NOTE
As with any change made to brake pad material, braking performance and feeling may be altered and could possibly be reduced under certain driving conditions as a result of their usage.

PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:

The pad shape change repair (04466-0W031) applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown.

This TSB applies to ALL IS-F vehicles.

WARRANTY INFORMATION:

PARTS INFORMATION:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Conduct a road test to verify the noise condition. Noise usually occurs during stops with light pressure applied to the brake pedal.

Option A: If the noise is slight and intermittent, replace the brake pads with the shape change pads (04466-0W031), if the vehicle was produced before the production change VIN.

Option B: If the noise is more persistent and frequent, replace the pads with the material change pads (04466-0W040).

NOTE
Installing the different pad material brake pads (04466-0W040) will result in a slightly different brake feel.

2. Remove and replace the rear brake pads and anti-squeal shims with the updated parts.

For complete removal procedures, Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:

- 2008 / 2009 / 2010 / 2011 IS-F:
Brake - Brake (rear) - "Brake (Rear): Rear Brake: Removal"

For complete installation procedures, Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:

- 2008 / 2009 / 2010 / 2011 IS-F:
Brake - Brake (rear) - "Brake (Rear): Rear Brake: Installation"

NOTE
- When replacing rear disc brake pads, the anti-squeal shims MUST be replaced together with the pads.
- When applying grease per the Repair Manual, use the grease enclosed with the rear disc brake pad kit or supplied grease: Part # 90998-94072.

3. Road test the vehicle to confirm the rear brake noise condition is NO longer present.

NOTE:
Issue of this Technical Service Bulletin is to ensure that proper repair information is available. IT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN AUTHORIZATION FOR REPAIR. Normal provisions of the formal warranty policy, as applicable, will apply.
