INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
* Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.
* The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the Precaution in the Supplemental Restraint System Service Precautions.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK ILLUMINATION
(a) Check if the illumination for the display and navigation module display, steering pad switch assembly, radio receiver assembly, glove box light, cigarette lighter, or others (seat heater switch, front seat memory switch, etc.) comes on when the light control switch is turned to the HEAD or TAIL position.
Result
D -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - NO. 1 METER ECU AND BATTERY)
C -- GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM
B -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY - BATTERY AND NO. 1 METER ECU)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE - NO.1 METER ECU AND PASSENGER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK)
(a) Disconnect the L134 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the L10 No. 1 meter ECU sub-assembly connector.
(c) Disconnect the PA passenger side junction block connector.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (STEERING PAD SIDE)
(a) Remove the steering switch assembly (steering wheel side) Removal.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 2 (ILL+-1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 5 (ILL--1) of the steering pad switch connector.
(c) Check if the illumination for the steering pad switch comes on.
OK:
Illumination for the steering pad switch comes on.
NG -- REPLACE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly Removal.
Text in Illustration
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NOTICE:
The spiral cable is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the Precaution for the supplemental restraint system Service Precautions.
NG -- REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH (STEERING WHEEL SIDE) Removal
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - NO. 1 METER ECU AND BATTERY)
(a) Disconnect the L113 radio receiver assembly connector.
(b) Disconnect the L10 No. 1 meter ECU sub-assembly connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY Removal
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY - BATTERY AND NO. 1 METER ECU)
(a) Disconnect the L59 and L117 display and navigation module display connectors.
(b) Disconnect the L10 combination meter connector.
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY Removal
