Applicability

Introduction

Some 2007 - 2011 model year LS 460 (2WD) vehicles may exhibit an inoperative engine cooling fan motor. This may lead to an increase of the engine coolant temperature visible on the instrument panel gauge or reduced A/C performance while the vehicle is stopped. Use the following repair procedure to address this condition.

Repair Procedure

1. Confirm the vehicle exhibits the condition in the Introduction.

2. Verify if both cooling fan motors operate properly.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model year LS 460 Repair Manual:

2007 / 2008 / 2009 / 2010 / 2011 LS 460:
Engine/Hybrid System - Cooling - "1UR-FSE Cooling: Cooling Fan Motor (for 2WD): On-Vehicle Inspection"

^ If both cooling fan motors operate properly, this TSIB does NOT apply. Diagnose following the applicable Repair Manual for the vehicle's symptom.

^ If either one of the cooling fan motors are found to be inoperative, go to step 3.





3. Confirm the condition under which the vehicle is operated as indicated below.

4. For vehicles that are operated under "Normal" conditions:

This TSIB does NOT apply. Diagnose and repair following the applicable Repair Manual.

5. For vehicles that are operated under "Long Idle / Slow Speeds" conditions:
Replace the cooling fan assembly parts with the new parts listed in the Parts Information table.
