Luggage Compartment Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate when Key is Outside Luggage Compartment
DOOR LOCK: SMART ACCESS SYSTEM WITH PUSH-BUTTON START: Luggage Compartment Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate when Key is Outside Luggage Compartment
- Luggage Compartment Door Entry Unlock Function does not Operate when Key is Outside Luggage Compartment
DESCRIPTION
When the entry luggage compartment open function does not operate, one of the following may be the cause: 1) luggage compartment door opener switch malfunction; 2) power trunk lid control system malfunction; 3) communication malfunction between electrical key antenna and electrical key transmitter; 4) power trunk lid control ECU (luggage closer motor) receives the luggage compartment door opener switch ON signal, but is unable to send the signal to the certification ECU through CAN communication; or 5) certification ECU malfunction.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK SMART ACCESS SYSTEM WITH PUSH-BUTTON START
(a) Check that the entry lock and unlock function can be operated at each door Operation Check.
OK:
entry functions operate normally.
NG -- GO TO DTC OF OTHER COMPONENTS (PROCEED TO PROBLEM SYMPTOM FLOWCHART FOR EACH DOOR) Problem Symptoms Table
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK LUGGAGE DOOR OPENER OPERATION
(a) When the luggage compartment door opener switch is operated, check that the luggage compartment door opens Operation Check.
OK:
Luggage compartment door opens.
NG -- GO TO POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM Problem Symptoms Table
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH)
(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List Smart Access System With Push-Button Start.
Back Door
OK:
On the Techstream screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.
NG -- INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT
(a) Bring the electrical key transmitter near the electrical key antenna (in rear bumper), and perform an entry luggage compartment open function check.
NOTICE:
If the key is brought within 0.2 m (0.656 ft.) of the rear bumper, communication is not possible.
HINT
* When the electrical key transmitter is brought near the electrical key antenna, the possibility of wave interference decreases, and it can be determined if wave interference is causing the problem symptom.
* If the inspection result is that the operation check is normal, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation check.
OK:
Entry functions operate normally.
NG -- KEY DIAGNOSTIC MODE
OK -- AFFECTED BY WAVE INTERFERENCE
5. KEY DIAGNOSTIC MODE
(a) Diagnostic mode inspection (electrical key antenna)
(1) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(2) Turn the power switch ON (IG).
(3) Turn the Techstream on.
(4) Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access / Smart Communication Check /Overhead + Luggage.
(5) When the electrical key transmitter is held at the same height as the rear bumper upper surface and aligned with the center of the rear of the vehicle, check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds.
HINT
If the buzzer sounds, it can be determined that the luggage compartment exterior transmitter is operating normally.
OK:
Wireless door lock buzzer sounds
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA)
OK -- REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU Removal
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA)
(a) Disconnect the L15 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the R40 antenna connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (OPERATION)
(a) Replace the electrical key antenna with a new or normally functioning one Removal.
(b) Check that the entry luggage compartment open function operates normally Operation Check.
OK:
Operates normally
NG -- CHECK LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER MOTOR (OPERATION)
OK -- END (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA IS DEFECTIVE)
8. CHECK LUGGAGE DOOR CLOSER MOTOR (OPERATION)
(a) Replace the luggage closer motor with a new or normally functioning one Removal.
(b) Check that the entry luggage compartment open function operates normally Operation Check.
OK:
Operates normally
NG -- REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU Removal
OK -- END (LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR IS DEFECTIVE)
9. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH
(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect the S43 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the S38 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY Components
