System Description

SEAT: FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM (w/ Memory): SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

1. FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

(a) The power seat control system is available for the driver and front passenger seats.

(b) This system is controlled by the position control ECU and switch assembly incorporated into the seat switches, which are mounted on the driver and front passenger seat.

(c) The driver and front passenger seats have the memory function that can store and recall 3 different settings.

(d) The memory call function uses the key ID code of the key to memorize and reproduce the appropriate driving position for each individual who possesses a master key or sub key.

(e) The fold & return function allows the front seats to operate so that the headrests will not interfere with the roof panel.

NOTICE:
* After replacing the position control ECU and switch assembly, register the end-point positions of the reclining motor, lifter motor and slide motor.
* After replacing the front seat adjuster assembly clear seat positions stored in the position control ECU and switch assembly, and then register the end-point positions of the reclining motor, lifter motor and slide motor.
* Refer to the Operation Check Operation Check.

2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

3. SYSTEM OPERATION

The front power seat functions which can be adjusted with the power seat motors and memorized are shown below.

For the driver side memory function, the memory switch operation is first transferred from the outer mirror control ECU LH to the position control ECU and switch assembly LH via the multiplex communication line. For the passenger side memory function, memory switch operation is first transferred from the outer mirror control ECU RH to the position control ECU and switch assembly RH via the multiplex communication line. Then, either the seat position is stored in memory or a previously stored seat position is recalled.

4. ROOF PANEL AVOIDANCE CONTROL

The position control ECU uses the roof panel avoidance control function to control the slide motor and lifter motor to keep the front seat headrests from interfering with the roof panel when the fold or return operation is performed.

(a) The position control ECU and switch assembly calculates the front seat headrest position based on a reclining angle and seat position to determine possibility of interference with the roof panel.

(b) An interference judgment line is determined based on a criterion value. The judgment line and criterion value are as shown in the illustration.
