A960E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the park/neutral position switch to the manual valve shaft.





HINT
Make sure that the manual valve lever shaft has not been rotated prior to installing the park/neutral position switch as the detent spring may become detached from the manual valve lever shaft.

(b) Temporarily install the bolt.

(c) Install a new lock washer and the nut.

Torque : 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 in-lbf)

(d) Temporarily install the control shaft lever.





(e) Turn the control shaft lever counterclockwise until it stops, and turn it clockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position.

(f) Remove the transmission control shaft lever.





(g) Align the neutral alignment mark with the switch groove, and tighten the adjusting bolt.

Torque : 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)

(h) Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.





(i) Install the transmission control shaft lever RH with the nut and washer.

Torque : 16 Nm (163 kgf-cm, 12 ft-lbf)

(j) Connect the park/neutral position switch connector.
