Removal





AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: STEERING KNUCKLE: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

2. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR WIRE Removal

3. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Replacement

4. REMOVE FRONT DISC

for Floating Type Caliper Removal

for Opposed Type Caliper Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

6. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE

(a) Remove the clip and loosen the nut.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and steering knuckle from the lower ball joint.





(c) Remove the nut and install the spacer (SST spacer B) as shown in the illustration.

(d) Using SST, remove the steering knuckle from the upper suspension arm as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
Apply grease to the end and threads of the SST bolt.

NOTICE:
* Install SST so that A and B are parallel.
* Be sure to place a wrench on the part indicated in the illustration.
* Make sure that SST is securely positioned on the steering knuckle spacer.
* Be careful not to damage the steering knuckle because it is made of aluminum and may be damaged easily.
* Do not damage the ball joint dust cover.
* Be sure to tighten the string firmly to secure SST to the front upper suspension arm to prevent SST from falling off.

HINT
Apply protective tape to the steering knuckle.

If the steering knuckle spacer has come off, replace the steering knuckle with a new one.
