STEERING COLUMN: STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering column assembly to connect the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to the steering column assembly.

(b) Install the bolt.

Torque : 35 Nm (360 kgf-cm, 26 ft-lbf)

2. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Align the matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to connect the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

(b) Temporarily install the bolt.

HINT
Tighten the bolt after connecting the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the power steering link assembly.

3. INSTALL STEERING POST ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the steering post assembly with the 4 nuts.





Torque : 26 Nm (260 kgf-cm, 19 ft-lbf)

(b) Connect the connectors and wire harness clamps to the steering post assembly.

(c) Tighten the clamp to the steering column hole shield.





4. INSTALL BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING Installation

5. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT

(a) Engage the 2 claws to install the No. 1 air duct.





6. CONNECT STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation

7. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

HINT
Refer to the instructions for Installation of the driver side knee airbag assembly Installation.

8. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

9. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using pliers, expand the clamp.

(b) While holding the clamp expanded, install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly and engage the claw.

(c) Return the clamp to its original position.

(d) Connect the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.

10. INSTALL TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH Installation

11. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Upper Side)

(a) Engage the 4 clips and 2 guides to install the steering column cover (upper side) onto the instrument panel cluster finish panel.





(b) Engage the claw to install the steering column cover (upper side).





12. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Lower Side)

(a) Engage the 2 claws to install the steering column cover (lower side).





NOTICE:
Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.

(b) Install the 3 screws.





Torque : 2.0 Nm (20 kgf-cm, 18 in-lbf)

13. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE Installation

14. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Installation

15. INSTALL STEERING PAD Installation

16. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Installation

17. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Installation

18. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT

19. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
* Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
* Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
* Reset the auto away/return function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column System.

20. INSPECT STEERING PAD Installation

21. REGISTER ECU CODE

NOTICE:
When replacing the steering lock actuator assembly, perform initialization Engine Immobilizer System.

22. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT

(a) Inspect the SRS warning light Diagnosis System.
