Power Mirror Surface Position Is Not Memorized
MIRROR (EXT): POWER MIRROR CONTROL SYSTEM: Power Mirror Surface Position is not Memorized
- Power Mirror Surface Position is not Memorized
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The outer mirror control ECU assembly monitors each seat memory switch status. If a seat memory switch is operated, the outer mirror control ECU assembly sends the seat memory switch signal to the position control ECU and switch assembly through the multiplex communication line. Based on the seat memory switch signal, the position control ECU and switch assembly sends back a mirror position storage signal to the outer mirror control ECU assembly through the multiplex communication line. When the outer mirror control ECU assembly receives the mirror position storage signal, the mirror surface position will be memorized based on the mirror position signal sent from the mirror position sensors built into each outer rear view mirror assembly.
HINT
Each outer rear view mirror has a built-in mirror vertical position sensor and mirror horizontal position sensor.
NOTICE:
* The mirror surface position will not be memorized if the engine switch is not on (IG).
* The mirror surface position will not be stored if the seat memory SET switch and 2 or more of the seat memory switches (for example, M1 switch and M2 switch) are pressed simultaneously.
* If the operation fails, the mirror surface position will not be memorized until the seat memory SET switch is turned off.
* The mirror surface position will not be memorized when the mirror is operated manually.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Use the Techstream to check if the multiplex communication system is functioning normally How To Proceed With Troubleshooting.
OK:
Multiplex communication DTC is not output.
NG -- GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART) Multiplex Communication System
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK SEAT MEMORY SWITCH FUNCTION
(a) Check that the memory operation is properly completed.
HINT
Mirror surface position memory function is initiated by a signal from the position control ECU and switch assembly. Therefore, be sure to confirm that the seat position memory function operates normally Operation Check.
OK:
Seat position can be memorized using seat memory switch.
NG -- GO TO POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK MIRROR SURFACE POSITION MEMORY FUNCTION
(a) Check the mirror surface position memory function.
(1) Using the outer mirror switch assembly, turn the mirror surface to the full left position.
(2) Press the M1 switch while the SET switch is being pressed.
(3) Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the mirror surface position is memorized.
(4) Using the outer mirror switch assembly, turn the mirror surface to the full right position.
(5) Press the M1 switch.
(6) Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the outer mirror automatically moves to the recorded full left position.
HINT
Be sure to memorize the mirror surface position at the full left position in order to confirm that a new position can be memorized because the mirror surface may be turned to the previously memorized position.
Result:
B -- REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH
C -- REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH
A -- REPLACE POSITION CONTROL ECU AND SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
4. REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH
(a) Replace the outer rear view mirror assembly RH Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
OK:
Mirror surface position memory function is normal.
NG -- REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (PASSENGER SIDE) Removal
OK -- END (OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH WAS DEFECTIVE)
6. REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Replace the outer rear view mirror assembly LH Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
OK:
Mirror surface position memory function is normal.
NG -- REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY (DRIVER SIDE) Removal
OK -- END (OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH WAS DEFECTIVE)
