AA80E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE: PARK / NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the switch to the manual valve shaft.

HINT
Make sure that the manual valve lever shaft has not been rotated prior to installing the park/neutral position switch as the detent spring may become detached from the manual valve lever shaft.

(b) Temporarily install the bolt.





(c) Install a new lock washer with the nut.

Torque : 6.9 Nm (70 kgf-cm, 61 in-lbf)





(d) Temporarily install the control shaft lever with shifting rod.





(e) Turn the control shaft lever counterclockwise until it stops, and then turn it clockwise 2 notches to set it to N.





(f) Remove the control shaft lever with shifting rod.





(g) Align the groove with the neutral basic line.





(h) Hold the switch in this position and tighten the bolt.

Torque : 13 Nm (130 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)

(i) Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.





HINT
Bend at least 2 washer tabs.

(j) Install the transmission control shaft lever with the spring washer and nut.





Torque : 16 Nm (160 kgf-cm, 12 ft-lbf)

(k) Connect the switch connector.





2. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER

(a) Install the rear engine mounting member with the 4 bolts.





Torque : 26 Nm (260 kgf-cm, 19 ft-lbf)

3. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Temporarily tighten the floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly with the nut.





4. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION Adjustments

5. INSTALL PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY Installation

6. FULLY TIGHTEN NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY Installation

7. INSPECT AND ADJUST NO. 2 AND NO. 3 JOINT ANGLE Installation

8. INSTALL OUTSIDE AIR GUIDE PLATE RH Installation

9. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR Installation

10. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Installation

11. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR Installation

12. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Installation

13. INSTALL FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE Installation

14. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE Installation

15. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER AIR GUIDE BRACKET Installation

16. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Inspect the switch Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

17. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

18. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK

19. INSTALL NO. 2 FLOOR UNDER COVER Installation

20. INSTALL NO. 1 FLOOR UNDER COVER Installation

21. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
