DESCRIPTION

Pressing the front wiper deicer switch with the engine switch on (IG) causes the indicator to come on and the system to be activated. After approximately 15 minutes, the system automatically stops and the indicator goes off.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DEICER RELAY OPERATES

(a) Push the front wiper deicer switch.

(b) Check that operation sound of the deicer relay is heard.

OK:

Relay operating sound is heard.

NG -- INSPECT DEICER RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT DEICER RELAY

(a) Remove the deicer relay.





(b) Measure the resistance of the windshield deicer relay.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE DEICER RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - BATTERY)

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - FRONT WIPER DEICER (WINDSHIELD GLASS))

(a) Disconnect the front wiper deicer (windshield glass) connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT WIPER DEICER (WINDSHIELD GLASS) - BODY GROUND)

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE FRONT WIPER DEICER (WINDSHIELD GLASS) Removal

6. INSPECT DEICER RELAY

(a) Remove the deicer relay.





(b) Measure the resistance of the windshield deicer relay.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE DEICER RELAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - BATTERY)

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DEICER RELAY - FRONT WIPER DEICER SWITCH)

(a) Disconnect the front wiper deicer switch connector.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT WIPER DEICER SWITCH - BATTERY)

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT WIPER DEICER SWITCH - BODY GROUND)

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE FRONT WIPER DEICER SWITCH Removal
