AA80F Automatic Transmission
AA80F AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM: P2769, P2770: Short in Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Circuit (Shift Solenoid Valve SL)
DESCRIPTION
Based on the on/off condition of solenoid valve SL, the TCM controls the fluid pressure to the lock-up relay valve, and performs lock-up control.
Fail-safe function:
If the TCM detects a malfunction, it turns shift solenoid valve SL off.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
Based on the signals from the throttle position sensor, air flow meter and crankshaft position sensor, the TCM sends a signal to solenoid valve SL to regulate the hydraulic pressure and provide smooth torque converter assembly engagement. Shift solenoid valve SL responds to commands from the TCM and controls the lock-up relay valve to perform the torque converter assembly lock-up function. If the TCM detects an open or short circuit in the shift solenoid valve SL circuit, it will illuminate the MIL.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs AA80F Automatic Transmission System.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK HARNESS AND TRANSMISSION WIRE (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM, TRANSMISSION WIRE (SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL))
(a) Disconnect the E6 TCM connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. REPLACE TCM
(a) Replace the TCM Removal.
NEXT -- PERFORM A/T CODE REGISTRATION Registration
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSMISSION WIRE - TCM)
(a) Disconnect the E50 transmission wire connector.
(b) Disconnect the E6 TCM connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL
(a) Remove shift solenoid valve SL Disassembly.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
(c) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to the terminal of the solenoid valve connector, and the negative (-) lead to the solenoid body. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating noise.
OK:
Valve moves and makes operating noise.
NG -- REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL Disassembly
OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION WIRE Removal
