LF1A TRANSFER: TRANSFER ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
3. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
4. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET Removal
5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH Removal
6. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Removal
7. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Removal
8. REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR COVER Removal
9. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER Removal
10. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER Service and Repair
11. REMOVE FRONT LOWER SUSPENSION MEMBER PROTECTOR Removal
12. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
Removal
13. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY
Removal
14. DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
15. LOOSEN FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY Removal
16. DRAIN TRANSFER OIL Service and Repair
17. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground cable.
(b) Using a jack and wooden blocks or equivalent, support the transfer.
NOTICE:
Do not set the wooden blocks or equivalent against the oil pan of the transmission.
(c) Remove the 4 bolts, 5 nuts, No. 3 rear engine mounting insulator and rear engine mounting member.
(d) While supporting the front propeller shaft assembly by hand, remove the 12 bolts and 4 constant velocity universal joint washers.
(e) Remove the front propeller shaft assembly from each companion flange.
NOTICE:
Do not bend the front propeller shaft at an excessive angle.
(f) Remove the 3 bolts.
(g) Install the rear engine mounting member and No. 3 rear engine mounting insulator with the 4 bolts and 5 nuts.
(h) Set an engine lift and wooden blocks or equivalent against the rear engine mounting member and support the automatic transmission assembly.
NOTICE:
Do not set the wooden blocks or equivalent against the oil pan of the transmission.
(i) Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the rear engine mounting member.
(j) Slowly tilt the automatic transmission assembly away from the vehicle.
NOTICE:
Be careful of the exhaust manifold and wire harnesses when tilting the transmission.
(k) Make sure the wooden blocks or equivalent are set securely against the transfer with the jack.
(l) Remove the 8 bolts and transfer.
NOTICE:
* Do not damage the oil seal.
* Be careful not to drop the transfer assembly.
* Be sure to perform this procedure with several people as the transfer assembly is very heavy.
(m) Connect the rear engine mounting member with the 4 bolts.
