P1277
2UR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P1276-P1279, P127A-P127D: Port Injector Circuit No. 1
P127D - Port Injector Circuit #8
DESCRIPTION
The D-4S (Direct injection 4-stroke gasoline engine Superior) has two fuel injection systems. One is the port fuel injection system. The other is the direct fuel injection system.
The port fuel injector is supplied with battery voltage (12 V). When the internal transistor of the engine control module (ECM) turns on, the port fuel injector sprays fuel.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
To monitor the port injector circuit, the ECM counts the number of times the injection fails. If the count reaches 10 times, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction. The ECM illuminates the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) and sets the diagnosis trouble code (DTC) immediately.
MONITOR STRATEGY
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS
TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
4. Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
5. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].
6. Put the engine in inspection mode Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
7. Start the engine.
8. Idle the engine for 10 seconds [B].
9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
10. Read the DTCs [C].
HINT
- If a DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If a DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
11. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
12. Input the DTC: P1276, P1277, P1278, P1279, P127A, P127B, P127C and P127D.
13. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform steps [B] and [C] again.
14. If the test result is INCOMPLETE or N/A and no DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
Read freeze frame data using the Techstream. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P1276, P1277, P1278, P1279, P127A, P127B, P127C OR P127D)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream ON.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
(e) Read DTCs.
Result
B -- GO TO DTC CHART SFI System
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK FUEL INJECTOR FOR PORT INJECTION (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE)
(a) Disconnect the fuel injector for port injection connector.
(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:
NG -- CHECK AND REPAIR HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (INJ FUSE - INJECTOR FOR PORT INJECTION)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - FUEL INJECTOR FOR PORT INJECTION)
(a) Disconnect the fuel injector for port injection connector.
(b) Disconnect the E2 and E4 ECM connectors.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):
Standard resistance (Check for short):
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FUEL INJECTOR FOR PORT INJECTION (RESISTANCE)
(a) Check the fuel injector for port injection resistance Fuel Injector (for Port Injection).
NG -- REPLACE FUEL INJECTOR FOR PORT INJECTION Removal
OK -- REPLACE ECM Removal
