Applicability

Introduction

Some vehicles may exhibit a condition where water leaks from around the HVAC blower motor onto the passenger's footwell area. To prevent this condition from occurring, an updated HVAC blower motor seal and one-way flapper valve are available.

Repair Procedure

1. Verify the condition. Remove the Blower Motor Lower Trim Panel and verify that there is water on the jute padding and/or the back of the panel.

Is there water on the jute padding and/or the back of the Blower Motor Lower Trim Panel?

^ YES - Go to step 2.

^ NO - This bulletin does NOT apply.

2. Remove the blower assembly.

A. Remove the screw.

B. Detach the 3 claws and remove the blower assembly.





C. Disconnect the drain hose.





3. Remove the original blower motor seal.





4. Install the NEW blower motor seal around the flange on the blower motor housing as shown.

Verify the blower motor seal is fully seated.





NOTE
The white marking should be on the bottom surface of the flange.





5. Remove the original one-way flapper valve.





6. Install the NEW one-way flapper valve.

NOTE
Verify that the flapper valve is correctly installed as shown in the illustration. If not correctly installed, the valve may leak and will not function as designed.





7. Install the drain hose.

NOTE
The blower case may be higher than the evaporator case.

8. Install the blower assembly.

9. Confirm the repair and proper operation.
