Steps 46 - 85
46. Using the special tool, install the front crank seal.
47. NOTE: The crankshaft pulley must be installed within four minutes after applying the silicone.
Apply silicone gasket and sealant to the Woodruff key slot on the crankshaft pulley.
48. Using the special tool, install the crankshaft pulley.
49. Install the bolt and washer. Tighten the bolt in four stages:
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Loosen one full turn.
^ Stage 3: Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 4: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.
50. Install the water pump. Inspect the water pump O-ring seal before installation.
51. Install the four bolts.
52. Install the water pump pulley and the bolts.
53. Install the heater return tube and the bolt.
^ Inspect the O-ring seals.
54. Install the knock sensor (KS).
55. Install the wiring and connect to the engine at six locations.
56. Connect the knock sensor (KS).
57. Install the RH ignition coils.
58. Connect the RH ignition coils.
59. Install the RH ignition coil cover.
60. Position the bracket and install the nuts.
61. Connect the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor.
62. Connect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.
63. Install the LH ignition coils.
64. Connect the LH ignition coils.
65. Install the bolts and the LH ignition coil cover.
66. Install the oil fill tube.
67. Connect the oil pressure sender.
68. Install the special tool.
69. Install the oil level indicator and tube, and the stud.
70. Remove the engine from the work stand.
71. Install the bolts and the rear seal retainer plate.
72. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.
Clean the mating surfaces.
73. NOTE: If the oil pan and the oil pan gasket are not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or four minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.
Apply silicone gasket and sealant at the rear oil seal retainer-to-cylinder block sealing surface.
75. Install the oil pan gasket and the oil pan and loosely install the 16 bolts.
76. Tighten the bolts in three stages, in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 3: Tighten an additional 60 degrees.
77. Lower the engine onto wooden blocks.
78. Remove the special tool.
79. Install the special tool and raise the engine.
80. Using the special tool, install the crankshaft rear oil seal.
81. Using the special tool, install the crankshaft oil slinger.
82. Install the bolts and the flywheel.
