Driver Seat

DRIVER SEAT

SPECIAL TOOL(S)

WARNING: The safety belt pretensioner is a pyrotechnic device. Never probe a pretensioner electrical connector. Doing so could result in pretensioner or air bag deployment and could result in personal injury.

NOTE: Driver seat is shown, passenger seat is similar.

REMOVAL

1. WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) components and before servicing, replacing, adjusting or striking components near the front or side air bag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats and hood latches.

The side impact sensors (if equipped) are located at or near the base of the B-pillars and C-pillars.

To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. Be sure to disconnect auxiliary batteries and power supplies (if equipped).


Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.

2. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, notes, and instructions in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) deactivation/reactivation procedure.

Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).







3. Remove the components in the order indicated in the illustration and table.

Item 3: Front Seat Rear Track Bolt Removal Note
1. Connect the battery ground cable.
2. Move the seat to the most forward position.
3. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.







4. Remove the two front seat rear track bolt covers.







5. Remove the two front seat rear track bolts.
6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Item 4: Electrical Disconnects Removal Note

1. NOTE: Some component connectors may not exist due to vehicle options.

Tilt the seat forward and disconnect the electrical connectors.

INSTALLATION

1. NOTE: Make sure the battery negative cable is still disconnected before continuing with the installation portion of this procedure.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.







2. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the front seat restraint system electrical connector.







3. Connect the front seat restraint system electrical connector.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
5. With the restraint system diagnostic tools installed at the remaining deployable devices, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
6. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.

7. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes, and instructions in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) deactivation/reactivation procedure.

Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).

8. Connect the battery ground cable.

9. WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from the vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.

With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed; prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS).

10. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.

Item 3: Front Seat Rear Track Bolt Installation Note
1. Connect the electrical connectors.







2. Install the two front seat rear track bolts.







3. Install the two front seat rear track bolt covers.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
5. Move the seat to the most rearward position.
6. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.
