PINPOINT TEST E: THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROL SWITCH IS INOPERATIVETest E1:
Test E2-E3:
Normal Operation
When the headlamp switch is placed in the PARK or headlamp ON position, battery power is supplied to the dimmer switch and the dimmer module through circuit 14 (BN). The dimmer switch uses the headlamps ON input and outputs a pulse width modulation (PWM) voltage to the dimmer module and the auxiliary A/C controls through circuit 235 (RD/BK). The dimmer module uses the PWM from the dimmer switch and outputs the HIGH dimming voltage through circuit 1011 (TN/OG) to the steering wheel controls. Grounding for the steering wheel controls is provided by the powertrain control module through circuit 151 (LB/BK).
Possible Causes
- circuit 151 (LB/BK) open or short to ground
- circuit 1011 (TN/OG) open or short to ground
- clockspring
- steering wheel control switches
- powertrain control module (PCM)
