Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
1982 V6-2321. Drain cooling system, then remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect throttle linkage at carburetor, then remove accelerator linkage mounting bracket and position accelerator cable aside.
3. If applicable, disconnect speed control bead chain from carburetor, then remove servo/bracket assembly attaching nuts and position assembly aside.
4. Disconnect bowl vent hose at carburetor and thermactor air supply hose at check valve located at back end of intake manifold.
5. Disconnect and mark all vacuum hoses and electrical connections that will interfere with manifold removal.
6. Disconnect fuel line from carburetor and upper radiator hose from intake manifold.
7. If applicable, remove A/C compressor support bracket from manifold.
8. Loosen EGR tube at adapter, then disconnect PCV hose from carburetor.
9. Remove carburetor and EGR spacer.
10. Remove intake manifold attaching bolts, then the manifold.

11. Reverse procedure to install, and note the following:
a. Before installing intake manifold, apply a {1-8} inch bead of silicone rubber sealer D6AZ-19562-B or equivalent at mating surfaces of intake manifold, cylinder heads and cylinder block. Also apply a {1-8} inch bead of sealer to the outer end of each intake manifold seal for the full width of the seal.
b. Torque bolts to specification in sequence shown in Fig. 4.
