Urethane windshield water leaks sometimes cannot be corrected with liquid butyl after seal alone. The solvents in the after seal have no effect on the urethane and will not adhere to the urethane. However, it is not necessary to remove and reinstall the windshield if the following procedure is used.

1. Remove windshield exterior trim moulding and locate exact area of leak (using a hose, start at lower corners and work up around the glass).
2. Blow area dry with air hose.

3. Using a piece of butyl adhesive sealer (D9AZ- 19562-A or B), roll it into a bead 1/8" to 3/16" diameter and 4-5" long and place it in the area of the leak (Figure 4).
4. With a plastic glass trim stick or bondo squeege, push the butyl adhesive sealer into the gap between the glass and the flange (usually around a spacer or sheet metal joint). Figure 4, View A.
5. Apply a light coat of liquid butyl after seal (C9AZ- 19554-B) to soften the adhesive and cause it to swell or flow into any gaps.
6. After determining the seal is acceptable, reinstall the moldings.
