LEAK - WATER - AT ROOF RAIL

DRIP EXTENSION MOULDING


LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983 CONTINENTAL

A water leak at either the right or left roof rail drip extension moulding can be serviced by installing a sealing washer between the moulding and the roof at each attaching stud. This concern was resolved in production on 5/16/83.

1. Remove roof side rear trim panel (angel wing) per instructions in Shop Manual, Page 45-03-15, Figure 26.

2. Remove (two) attachment nuts from the roof rail drip extension moulding studs as shown on Figure 1.
3. Remove moulding from vehicle.
4. Place (one) E35Y-54517A90-A Seal - roof side finish rear moulding over each of the two moulding studs.
5. Install moulding on the vehicle with seals between the moulding and the roof panel as shown on Figure 1.

6. Secure attachment nuts to moulding studs as shown on Figure 1.
7. Replace the roof side rear trim panel as shown in Shop Manual, Page 45-03-15, Figure 26.
8. Water test vehicle to confirm that the water leak has been eliminated.
