MARK VII & 1982---87 CONTINENTALFord Motor Company recommends that new ball joints should not be installed on used control arms, and that the control arm be replaced if ball joint replacement is required. However, aftermarket ball joint repair kits which do not require control arm replacement, are available and can be installed using the following procedure. When replacing a riveted joint, remove the rivets and retain the new joint in its control arm with the bolts, nuts and washers furnished with the ball joint kit. Use a suitable pressing tool to force the ball joint from the spindle.
