PAINT - LUXURY CAR BLACK FINISH UPGRADED

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983 LINCOLN, MARK VI, CONTINENTAL

The black paint finish for luxury cars produced at Wixom Assembly Plant has been upgraded to provide a significantly improved luxurious appearance. This was accomplished by converting from 1C (M-1724) black enamel used on all other Company carlines to 1R (M-6018) basecoat/clearcoat enamel.

A limited number of units with the new finish were produced in January and February, 1983, as trial units. The paint code on these units is shown as 1C rather than the newly designated 1R. As of February 21, 1983, all black units are finished with basecoat/clearcoat and have the 1R paint code.
