STUMBLE, SURGE, STALLING REDUCED POWER C.F.I. (CENTRAL FUEL INJECTION)


FORD 1983 CROWN VICTORIA WITH 5.0L ENGINE AND C.F.I.

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1983 GRAND MARQUIS, LINCOLN, MARK VI AND CONTINENTAL WITH 5.0L ENGINE AND C.F.I.


WARNING: THIS MODIFICATION IS AUTHORIZED ONLY FOR THE LISTED ENGINES. PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION ON OTHER ENGINE CALIBRATIONS IS UNAUTHORIZED AND COULID CREATE LIABILITY UNDER APPLICABLE FEDERAL OR LOCAL LAWS.

Vehicles built prior to October 13, 1982 may exhibit driveability concerns (stumble, surge, reduced power on acceleration and stalling) due to transient voltages generated by the EGR vent solenoid which can effect the operation of the processor.

A Diode Jumper Harness has been released for installation on subject vehicles.

^ Disconnect electrical connector on EGR Vent Solenoid (90474) located on left (driver's) side rocker cover.
^ Remove terminals from connector and discard connector.
^ Install new connector (14489) Shipped with Diode Jumper Harness (9D857) to wire terminals removed from connector in previous step.

NOTE: Red and Green wires must be inserted in new connector as shown.

^ Install Diode Jumper Harness (90857) between new Connector and EGR vent solenoid.

^ Disconnect electrical connector on EGA Vent Solenoid (9D474) located on right (passenger's) side fender apron area, between strut tower and dash panel.

^ Remove terminals from connector and discard connector.

^ Install new connector supplied with Diode Jumper Harness (9DB57) to wire terminals removed from connector in previous step.

NOTE: Red and Green wires must be inserted in new connector as shown.

Install Diode Jumper Harness (9D857) between new connector and EGR vent solenoid.





Obtain an Authorized Modifications decal and list the date, dealer number and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications decal. Clean the area, install the decal and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
